Vastu tips for Direction of the mandir

If you are living in a north-facing or an east-facing home erect your Mandir in the northeast of your home or the north or the east direction. The best-recommended direction for the Pooja mandir for home is the northeast. But if that doesnโ€™t go with your interiors the east direction and the north corners are also recommended. West corner also falls under standard rules, if nothing else works. However, avoiding locating the pooja room in the south corner of the house is completely prohibited for the mandir.

Prayers must be performed while facing east or north, to decide the mandir direction accordingly. Mandir established against the wall of the bathroom or under the staircase is not considered auspicious. The underground area or terrace area is not for Mandir use, Vastu Shastra considers it best to establish the mandir on the ground floor.

Vastu tips for the interior of the Mandir

Idols in the pooja room must not face each other or the door, and they must be located in the northeast ideally, not too close to the wall. Vastu Sastra considers the northeast as the ideal direction for the mandir and also for the Idols erected in the Pooja ghar. Do not place Idols close to the mandir walls and they must not be facing each other. Doors of the Pooja ghar should open out in the north or the east direction of the room. Broken idols, lamps, decoratives, or anything in the Pooja unit should be broken or chipped. Keep the cupboards or storage space for Mandir in the south or the west. Using Pooja using as storage space is a bad omen so avoid any kind of storage in it. Place lamps and Agni Kund in the southeast direction and ensure that the idols in the pooja room are not chipped or broken. Using copper vessels is considered the best and most auspicious for mandir use. Vastu Sastra considers a mounted pooja ghar as the most auspicious one, as it maximizes positive energy. A brink to the pooja room also reflects positivity as per Vastu.

An ideal pooja ghar must have two doors ideally, and it should be made of pure wood. You can also buy a wooden readymade Pooja mandir online. Avoid pictures of the deceased or paintings depicting violence in the pooja room. White, light blue, yellow, or other subtle soothing shades are good colors for pooja rooms according to Vastu.

If you live in a small space, itโ€™s understood that you may not have a proper dedicated space for a complete pooja room. For that, Your living room or the kitchen would be the best place for the mandir but make sure it is in the northeast direction of your home. Itโ€™s not a good idea to have a mandir in the bedroom is not at all a good idea to place your Pooja unit. However, if you are running out of options, then the direction must be the northeast of the bedroom. The most considerable fact is that your feet should not point towards the mandir while sleeping or doing anything.
